资源简介:
The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus has had a profound effect on the world. Symptoms and their severity vary widely among COVID-19 patients, with notable symptoms such as loss of smell (anosmia) or taste (ageusia) significantly impacting daily life. Recent studies have shown a genetic component to the development of different symptoms, including anosmia and ageusia, and the severity of symptoms. Establishing the genetic etiology of anosmia and ageusia with COVID-19 will aid in the overall understanding of the disease, particularly the way in which it interacts with the sensorineural system, and potentially contribute to novel treatments or cures. The goal of the primary study is to leverage whole genome sequencing data with machine learning techniques to prioritize variants as genetic modifiers for the anosmia and ageusia sypmtoms with COVID-19 and gain a better understanding of the molecular mechanisms that cause these symptoms.
