Acinetobacter baumannii is a global health concern. Domestic animals can develop serious infections caused by Acinetobacter species, including by A. baumannii. Several studies report infections in pets that are primarily nosocomial but also community-acquired. Strain sequence types associated with pet diseases (ST2, ST25) are also the same one found associated with disease in humans. However, typing alone is insufficient to understand the epidemiological link between human and animal infections.To better identify the origin of nosocomial infections in pets, we studied the carriage of A. baumannii in veterinary hospital services.
