Authentication of Anopheles mosquito lines pilot study

Authentication of vector colonies is the starting point of the roadmap towards standardisation and definition of common practices within the vector community. As part of this effort, this pilot project will test a simple authentication procedure based on SNP analysis. We have selected approximately 8-9 distinct mosquito colonies from different European labs to identify their SNP combinations from a panel of 26x unique SNPs. To identify the SNP combinations across mosquito colonies we have performed amplicon sequencing analysis on 5 individual female samples per mosquito colony (8-9 colonies in total).
