A black and white postcard of three older men at Mission San Juan Capistrano, San Juan Capistrano, California, USA, circa 1920s. The men stand at the center at the front of a wall. The man at the left wears a sombrero; bandana around the neck; a sweater; belt; and denim pants. He has a full beard and has the right arm down at the side and the left hand at the belt. The man at the middle wears a sombrero; scarf; plaid shirt; belt; and pants. He has a goatee and has both arms at the sides. The man at the right also has a goatee and both arms at the sides. He wears a hat; dark-colored jacket; collared shirt; home-made belt; and light colored pants. All look at the camera. Flanking them are two small bushes. Another man sits on a brick bench at the far left of the back. He has both hands clasped on his lap and looks at the camera. He wears a long-sleeve shirt, pants, and shoes. At the far left of the background is a brick wall. A stamp at the bottom of the back reads, "Old Mission / San Juan Capistrano, Calif. / FOUNDED 1776." This is over the words, "POST CARD / CORRESPONDENCE / ADDRESS." At the right corner is a square box which is outlined with the letters, "A Z O." At the center of the box is, "PLACE / STAMP / HERE." The image was housed in Agnes Temple's album which is item 96.7.94.1 along with many other photographs which span 96.7.1.1-.93.1. Contact sheets 2000.159.1.1-.8 show the original positioning of the images within the album. With water damage, stains, and warping, the artifact is in poor condition.
