Supplementary Materials for: Contracts, Registries, and RFCs: Measuring the Public Specification of the Extensible Provisioning Protocol in the gTLD System

Replication package for the study “Contracts, Registries, and RFCs: Measuring the Public Specification of the Extensible Provisioning Protocol in the gTLD System”. The study measures three public layers of the Extensible Provisioning Protocol (EPP) in the generic top-level domain (gTLD) system: the EPP provisions in the registry agreements of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the EPP extension registry of the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA), and the author entries of the 38 Requests for Comments (RFCs) whose title contains “Extensible Provisioning Protocol”. The package contains the ICANN list of gTLD registry agreements and the IANA registry XML, both unmodified as retrieved on 29 September 2026. It also contains Supplementary Table S1 (1,276 registry agreements with links), Supplementary Table S2 (69 author entries of 38 RFCs with printed affiliations and DOIs), a Python script that recomputes every count of the study, and the reference output of its online checks, run on 30 September 2026. The script uses only the Python standard library; the online checks also need pdftotext (Poppler). CHECKSUMS.sha256 lists the SHA-256 checksum of every file. Tables S1 and S2 and the README are licensed under CC BY 4.0, the script under the MIT License. The two unmodified snapshots remain subject to ICANN and IANA terms.
