The transcriptome analysis was carried out by RNA-seq using leaf samples, de novo assemblies, checking reads quality, and functional annotations. The results showed that the total clean reads reached 4,0 billion for <i>D. aromatica </i>and 4,1 billion for <i>D. lanceolata</i> leaves, respectively. Trinity assembly resulted Trinity assembly resulted in greater number of contigs in each species than rnaSPAdes (98.369 and 108.009 contigs of <i>D. aromatica</i> and <i>D. lanceolata</i>). Based on the gene ontology analysis, the percentage of protein-binding genes expressed was higher than the other genes identified in the two samples. AP2/ERF, bHLH, bZIP, MYB, and WRKY are transcription factors in monoterpene production.
