资源简介:
The purpose of this study is to explore the biomass and carbon storage of Taiwan cypress (Chameacyparis formosensis) and Taiwania trees (Taiwania cryptomerioides) grown with different silvicultural treatments in built permanent plots. The growth characteristics and mortality of trees from plots are investigated. Fifty sample trees are felled for stem analysis and surveying biomass for each species. The DBH, tree height, volume and biomass of stem, branch, and leaf of sampled trees are measured and investigated. Moreover, an increment borer was used to cut cores from trees. The bulk density and ring characteristics of sampled cores are investigated by time sequence method and soft x-ray densitometer techniques. The biomass and carbon storage are calculated from the tree growth and ring density characteristics. The applicable forest management could be analyzed and decided by evaluating the biomass and carbon storage of Taiwan cypress and Taiwania trees grown in different silvicultural regimes. The appropriate strategies of management that include thinning stand age, stand density, thinning time, interval of thinning treatments, utilization of thinned wood, and rotation, etc. are very important and assessed.
