DIMPIE/LagPlon - Macroalgae Asparagopsis

This dataset is dedicated to Asparagopsis collection, a marine macroalgae genus (Rhodophyta), which was sampled for the Seaprolif project, funded by the Netbiome program. The Seaprolif project purpose was to study Macroalgae proliferations origins and mecanisms by studying Asparagopsis, enlisted by IUCN among the "100 worst invasive species" in subtropical and temperate areas. Involving eight French and Portuguese teams, the consortium established a study platform based on a multiscale approach implemented in two hemispheres and three oceans (the Portuguese islands of the Azores and of Madeira, La Réunion, New Caledonia, French Polynesia,  Guadeloupe, and the Mediterranean).
Data are referred to genus and species of sampled specimens along with taxonomical authorship, taxonomy and information on sampling site and event. Each species is linked to a species file and named with alphanumeric references related to the field notes: date of sampling along with site number and number of the collected specimen: i.e. 121122-PYF0001-0001 for the first specimen collected "0001", the 22nd of november 2012 "121122", on French Polynesia first referenced station "PYF0001" (station are named using countries ISO 3166 Alpha-3 code).
