The aim of the publication is to follow the staging of Andrzej Wajda's "The Idiot" in the context of Fyodor Dostoyevsky's journalistic work. The research hypothesis assumes, following Zygmunt Hübner, that the director acts as the writer's lawyer. For this reason, theatrical authors often refer to the biographical facts and journalistic works of the writer when implementing a given theatrical adaptation.
