资源简介:
HFR005:
Plot level regeneration following the 1938 hurricane is measured at Harvard Forest (since 1938) and at Pisgah (Winchester, New Hampshire, since 1984). Measurements include tree species, DBH, canopy position, and estimates of ground cover. Local topography, soil type, land-use history, pre-hurricane vegetation, and hurricane damage have been recorded. Sampling intervals range from one to 30 years.
The Harvard Forest LTER site (HFR) is primarily Eastern deciduous forest. Research topics include: long-term climate change; disturbance history and vegetation dynamics; comparison of community, population, and plant architectural responses to human and natural disturbances; forest-atmosphere trace gas fluxes; organic matter accumulation, decomposition and mineralization; element cycling, fine root dynamics and forest microbiology.
