资源简介:
These elemental data were collected using the Quantitative Wavelength Dispersive Spectroscopy technique with the JEOL JXA-8530F Electron Probe Microanalyzer (EPMA-WDS) at the John M. Crowley Center for High Resolution Electron Microscopy at Arizona State University supervised by Dr. Axel Wittmann. Based on the methodology developed by Abbott and Lack (2013), a series of five assays were run per sample at 300X magnification in a relatively inclusion free area of clay matrix (spot area = 20 um) and the weight percentages of eight elements (K, Al, Na, Ti, Ca, Si, Mg, and Fe) were measured using a set of five wavelength-dispersive spectrometers. Data on six minor elements (Mn, Cr, S, Ni, Co, and O) were also collected but not analyzed because the precision of their measurement is typically insufficient for statistical analysis. Precision of the results was regularly checked against known abundances of these elements in standard reference materials using the same analytical protocol. The elemental measurements for each assay were standardized using the JEOL system software and output for analysis. Abbott, David R. and Andrew D. Lack (2013) Prehistoric Warfare in Central Arizona, USA: Assessing Its Scale with Ceramic Chemistry. Geoarchaeology 28(2):147-169.
