Size 13 in. by 71/2 in.; foll. 705. Forty-one lines in a page. التفسیر النیسابوری A large Commentary on the Koran, properly entitled غرائب القران و رغائب الفرقان, by al-Ḥasan b. Muḥammad Kummî, commonly called NIẒÂM NÎSÂBÛRÎ (a pupil of Naṣîr al-dîn Ṭûsî; flourished at the beginning of the eighth century). See Ḥ. Kh. iv. 306 for an abridgement of the introduction and of the epilogue, in which the author mentions his authorities. His chief authority is the التفسیر الکبیر or مفاتیح الغیب of Fakhr al-dîn Râzî (see No. 65). The explanation of the single passages of the Koran usually consists of two parts, التفسیر and التأویل, preceded by two paragraphs on the reading القراءة and on the pauses الوقوف. Beginning: ربّ یسّر و تمّم بالخیر عونک یا کریم الی الله الکریم ارغب فی ابداء غرائب القران، و بفضله العمیم اتاهّب لابداع رغائب الفرقان، و الیه ینتهی الامل و السول، و هذا حین افتتح فاقول، الحمدلله الذی جعلنا ممّن شرح صدره للاسلام فهو علی نور من ربّه. The last words of the epilogue are wanting in this MS., which ends with the words و اما لاحکام فمنها.1 Well written in a small hand; with some marginal notes. Splendidly ornamented and gilt.
