Shrimp farming and related activities contribute significantly to the national economy of Bangladesh. The main areas of contribution are export earnings and employment generation for on and off farm activities. The shrimp farming industry in Bangladesh has suffered severe problems, mainly due to disease outbreaks caused by Acute Hepatopancreatic Necrosis Disease (AHPND), causes serious damage in shrimp farming. No whole genome sequencing of AHPND positive Vibrio parahaemolyticus strain has been done yet in Bangladesh but in several countries like Thailand, Malaysia. The proposed study will analyze the whole genome sequence of Vibrio parahaemolyticus strain isolated from shrimp farming areas in south-west region of Bangladesh in 2016 & 2017 to detect the virulent gene of this pathogen. After whole genome sequencing it will be possible to identify the difference between strains of Bangladesh with that of Thailand and Malaysia by comparative genome analysis.
