The XMM-Newton Dataset was created by the National Institute for Astrophysics – Milan Observatory to analyze the particle-induced background of the XMM-Newton satellite. This dataset contains approximately 106 megaseconds of data spanning around 12 years of observational time, and is primarily used to study the interactions between high-energy particles and spacecraft structures. During its creation, researchers minimized the impact of other contamination sources through precise selections of energy, modes, and datasets.
