This qualitative study investigates informal exclusionary discipline practices in the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD), an urban school district in Northern California. Interviews were conducted in 2023 with 63 stakeholders including parents, teachers, administrators, and behavior specialists across SFUSD. <br><br>The interview covered topics such as behavioral intervention programming within the district, disciplinary practices within schools, and participant's racial and cultural background. We developed a codebook to summarize the kinds, causes, and consequences of informal exclusionary discipline practices that have inadvertently emerged in public preschool and early elementary settings in SFUSD. <br>
