Research Questions:
•What are the perceived benefits and limitations of Generative AI in completing legal academic
tasks?
•How does Generative AI affect the quality of legal research and academic writing produced by YSJ
Law students?
•How can YSJ Law School foster responsible use of AI tools while maintaining academic integrity?
This study adopts a quantitative Approach. Survey was conducted to gather data on the frequency, purposes, and perceived impact of Generative AI usage. The research focuses on law students enrolled at YSJ Law School across various academic years. An online questionnaire was distributed to the identified group of YSJ Law students to gather quantitative data.
The analysis is based on 103 survey responses. The sample skews heavily toward Level 4 students (76.7%), limiting generalizability to advanced students. Response options appear to have used a truncated 1-4-5 scale for familiarity rather than a full 1-5 scale, which may affect interpretation. All percentage calculations exclude missing values where applicable.
