资源简介:
Prior to 2022, before the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, both Ukraine and Venezuela ranked among the major global sources of economically and politically motivated migration. Recent migration flows from these countries exhibit both notable parallels and important differences, making them suitable for comparative analysis. The study:
Stonawski, M., & Brzozowski, J. (2025). Migration from Venezuela and Ukraine: a comparative analysis of settlement intentions and labour market outcomes in Peru and Poland. Bulletin of Geography. Socio-economic Series, (67), 89-106.
investigates the adaptation strategies of Venezuelan migrants in Peru and Ukrainian migrants in Poland, drawing on survey data collected in 2022. It focuses on settlement intentions, prospects for full-time employment, and the risk of overqualification. The results indicate that employment status does not significantly shape migrants’ intentions to remain in the host country. Among Venezuelans, higher educational attainment increases the likelihood of securing full-time employment, a pattern not observed among Ukrainians. At the same time, post-secondary education is associated with a higher risk of overqualification in both groups, with older and female Venezuelan migrants being particularly vulnerable.
