Escherichia coli Genome sequencing

The project aims to design, evaluate, and implement interventions to combat AMR in the Greater Manila Area, Philippines. This study's sites of interest are tertiary hospitals, animal farms, and the Laguna Lake, an important freshwater lake in the Philippines and in Asia. The target output of this study is the implementation of better antibiotic use, point-of-care testing in farms and hospitals, and a novel wastewater treatment technology. The impact of interventions will be evaluated by advanced molecular methods in detecting antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) and antibiotic-resistant bacteria (ARBs) in water. The study is expected to provide the most comprehensive and systematic interventions in reducing AMR in the lake environments in Asia.
