How Accurately Does eDNA Reflect the Spatial Distribution of Cold-Water Fish? Field Validation from a Temperate Lake

This study evaualutes the accuracy of environmental DNA (eDNA)-based detection methods for fish in a deep temperate lake. We provide stocked juvenile cisco Coregonus artedi time-to-event survival data from an acoustic telemetry study to estimate fish abundance in Keuka Lake, New York, USA during a lake-wide eDNA survey. We also provide an R script for population estimation from time-to-event data. Finally, we include a project report that summarizes eDNA data, marker development, and results from U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
