VPRS 14479 Petition: to name a railway station, Queensville

This series comprises a handwritten petition addressed to the Mayor and Councillors of the Town of Footscray (VA 640) requesting that the railway station on the Sandhurst line be called Queensville in honour of Queen Victoria's Jubilee (signed by 50 petitioners, 1887). Information included the name and place of residence of the petitioners.This is an original document and appears to have been received by the Council. It is however not known if this petition was part of the record keeping system of the Council (VA 640) or the Victorian Railway Commissioners (VA 2876).The item was purchased by the Public Record Office Victoria at Charles Leski Auctions from the Norm De Pomeroy Collection of Railway Memorabilia (Lot No 1077) in May 2004.
