资源简介:
Database of IPM Resources (DIR) is an information retrieval and
referral system and a compendium of customized directories of
worldwide IPM information resources accessible through the
Internet. With DIR, one can quickly find the way to thousands of IPM
information sites. The DIR presents these web resources in a logical,
structured, and searchable way that greatly reduces the frustration
and disappointment often encountered when using general search engines
on the web. The DIR covers a wide array of crops, pests, control
tactics, regions, organizations, and related topics in a user-friendly
format. DIR's contents span most of the disciplines involved in IPM.
The Consortium for International Crop Protection CICP), New York
Agricultural Experiment Station, Geneva, New York and the Integrated
Plant Protection Center (IPPC), Oregon State University, Corvallis,
Oregon are jointly developing Database of IPM Resources (DIR) to
promote global Integrated Pest Management (IPM) development and
adoption through rapid access to IPM information across the Internet.
DIR is an Internet/worldwide web-based information retrieval/referral
system and an up-to-date reference with a search engine for finding
IPM information resources on specific topics.
A wealth of IPM-related information exists today, but it is scattered
across hundreds of sites. DIR has been created to provide a single,
unified way to 1) find IPM information resources, and 2) rapidly
access them. It provides a listing of, and handy hyperlinks to, web
sites with useful information developed by specialists engaged in
IPM-related research and development worldwide.
Currently, DIR uses four indexing approaches:
General Index of DIR (various IPM topics); Search Engine (beginning
December 9, 1996). Select a Crop (most agricultural and horticultural crops).
Website Gateway (Internet resources with description and
brief introduction)
DIR provides a high level of technical information/support to those
involved in IPM. Research and extension specialists, pest management
practitioners, students, teachers, crop consultants and policy makers
can use DIR to reduce the time and frustration of gathering needed IPM
information. A few mouse clicks takes a DIR user to the exact page on
any number of sites with the desired information.
DIR is being constantly revised and expanded. You may notice changes
in the design and layout as we continuously develop this web site.
DIR gratefully acknowledges the hundreds of developers of web sites
that are its foundation.
