Transmission electron micrograph of a thin section of guinea pig pancreas showing a high magnification view of rough (granular) endoplasmic reticulum. Membrane-bounded cisternae are studded with ribsomes which, in favorable views show a cleft between the large and small subunits, with the large subunit connecting the membrane.
