资源简介:
This writer initiated this investigation of the geomorphology and landscape evolution in the Ozark National Scenic Riverways (ONSR) in 1981 as part of the cultural resources investigation contracted by the National Park Service (NPS) to the Southwest Missouri State University. He has visited the region four times, once for a familiarization reconnaissance in the fall of 1980, once in the summer of 1981 for data collection from area agencies, universities and organizations, and twice in 1982 for field investigations. During nearly two years, he has also "visited" the ONSR numerous times via detailed examinations and analyses of topographic maps and aerial photos, and review of the extremely meager technical literature on the area. Armed with this familiarity with the present landscape and the geomorphic processes at work, he is now at the stage of developing and testing conceptual models of landscape evolution during the time span of human occupation so that man/land relationships can be identified. He is building toward the ultimate goal of presenting this knowledge to the sponsor so that it can be available to the ONSR visitor and user as well as the scientific community.
