Indicator: Sustainable Schools in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed (2015-2021)

It includes schools recognized through several statewide and national programs, including Maryland Green Schools, Eco-Schools, Pennsylvania Pathways to Green Schools, Green Ribbon Schools, and Virginia Naturally Schools. The Indicator reports both the number of certified schools and the percentage of all public and charter K–12 schools that are certified within the watershed and its individual jurisdictions.</p><p><strong>Note: This Indicator supported progress tracking toward the Sustainable Schools Outcome in the original Chesapeake Bay Watershed Agreement, adopted in 2014. The Watershed Agreement and School District Environmental Literacy Outcome were revised in 2025.</strong></p>
