Rhizosphere and bulk soil mycobiomes

This study was aimed to evaluate the effect of fertilization- and plant-related factors on the rhizosphere and bulk soil fungal communities in a long-term fertilizer experiment. Specifically, we investigated what are the differences between mycobiomes in the rhizosphere of crop species when applying high doses of fresh farmyard manure or NPK fertilizers. For this purpose, we collected soil and rhizosphere samples of three different crops (potato, white mustard, and maize) from a 7-year fertilizer experiment with three treatments (no-fertilization; NPK; and organic cattle manure). Total (DNA) and metabolically active (RNA) fungal communities were analyzed using ITS rDNA metabarcoding and qPCR.
