Gene expression in the left ventricle after arteriovenous fistula surgery in a mouse model

Arteriovenous fistula (AVF) surgery is the preferred method for providing access for dialysis. However the increased cardiac output results in cardiac remodeling, including left ventricular (LV) hypertrophy. Adverse cardiac remodeling after AVF creation can lead to heart failure. We developed a mouse model of AVF surgery that recapitulates the cardiac output phenotype and develops LV hypertrophy. To determine the mechanisms of LV remodeling, we performed RNAseq on LV tissue dissected from mice that underwent AVF surgery at 28 days.
