Nasopharyngeal Microbiomes in Donkeys Shedding Streptococus equi subspecies equi in Comparison to Heealthy Donkeys

Streptococus equi subsp. equi was the primary pathogen causing strangles that can affect equids including donkeys of all age, which posed great threat to health, production and welfare of donkeys. Donkeys shedding S.equi persistently or periodically may have perturbed microbial environment in nasopharynx causing predisposition of other respiratory tract infections. The study aimed to compare nasopharyngeal microbiomes in healthy and carrier donkeys.
