Using Host-Responses and Pathogen Genomics to Improve Diagnostics for Tuberculosis in the Philippines

In this project, we tackle the pressing challenge of TB diagnosis in the country. With TB being a significant health burden, intensified by factors like HIV co-infection and drug resistance, our study aims to revolutionize diagnostic approaches. Leveraging host-response biomarkers and pathogen genomics, particularly through whole blood gene profiling, we seek to develop more effective, rapid, and accurate diagnostic tools. By bridging the gap between clinical need and cutting-edge science, our research promises to transform TB diagnosis, treatment monitoring, and ultimately, patient outcomes in the Philippines.
