Several species of lactic acid bacteria were newly-isolated from orchardgrass silage in Iwate prefecture, Japan. These isolates are expected to be useful as silage inoculants. The purpose of this project is to understand the genomic characteristics of these bacteria and to clarify the fermentation mechanisms in silage from the viewpoint of genomics.
