Images from Archaeological Trial Trenching and Evaluation at Bleachcroft Way, Barnsley, 2022

This digital archive contains images from a programme of archaeological trenching investigation and recording on land at Bleachcroft Way, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, centred on SE 37220497. The work was undertaken by York Archaeology and was commissioned by Lanpro Services Ltd on behalf of their client Harron Homes Yorkshire. The archaeological investigation comprised the excavation of twelve trenches, all measuring 50 x 1.80m, across the area of development . The trial trench evaluation has met the overall aim of the project, establishing the presence of a series of linear features, mostly associated with agriculture from the medieval to modern periods, with two ditches in Trench 5 perhaps associated with the railway line which formerly crossed the Site.
