Numerical simulation of a winter algal bloom in western Patagonia

We include data considered in the article ’Dataset for the numerical simulation of a winter algal bloom in a channel of western Patagonia, Data in Brief, P. Mata and C. Medel, 2021 (submitted)'. 1) A record of Chlorophyll-a content (measured in [ug/L]) with a sampling rate of 1-hour at a depth of 2 m in the Puyuhuapi channel (44°35.30’S; 72°43.60’W). The data was collected from a fixed oceanographic and meteorological station (July 10-16, 2015). FILE: Chlorophyll_a_hourly_record.txt 2) A record of the daily average Chlorophyll-a content (measured in [ug/L] at a depth of 2 m in the Puyuhuapi channel (44°35.30’S; 72°43.60’W). FILE: Chlorophyll_a_daily_average.txt 3) Other records with raw data (vertical profiles and (in-depth) integrated values for quantities measured at an oceanographic buoy). 4) Vertical profiles of underwater irradiance (measured in PAR) obtained in a sampling campaign (July 10-16, 2015) in the Puyuhuapi channel. FILE: underwater_irradiance.txt 5) Several pictures from the article. FILES: DataInBrief_1.eps, DataInBrief_2.eps, DataInBrief_3.eps, DataInBrief_4.eps, DataInBrief_5.eps 6) A Python script to fit polynomial functions to several data (Nutrient, Phytoplankton, Zooplankton, and Detritus content). FILE: Poly_fitting_data.py 7) A CVS file with the content of mezo-zooplankton. FILE: MezoZooplankton.cvs. 8) A CVS file with the content of dissolved carbon. FILE: DOC.cvs. This open-access data could be utilized to test and validate alternative numerical models. The aquaculture industry could use the data for making estimations of the primary production in the fjords’ area.
