The HYDEE project explores the economic and ecological implications of gas hydrate production on the Hikurangi Margin, off the west coast of Te Ika a Maui/the North Island of New Zealand. This data set consists of 16S rRNA gene amplicon libraries and metagenomes from methane seeps along the Hikurangi Margin, and from microcosm incubations of sediment from a seep at Glendhu Ridge.
