Plasmodium falciparum strains in Northwest Ethiopia

These samples are from a large epidemiology study was conducted in Northwestern Ethiopia from 2022-2023. Participants that were either P. falciparum-positive in highland health facilities (symptomatic malaria) or P. falciparum-positive in lowland agricultural work sites (symptomatic or asymptomatic). Each sample is from a blood spot collected from a single participant and confirmed positive by both RDT and qPCR. A single sample can contain either a single or multiple strains of parasite.
