Fresh T. matsutake fruiting body were obtained from a cultivated field in Aba, Sichuan province of China. After harvest, the fruiting bodies with similar size and shape and without any physical damage were taken to the laboratory immediately. The samples were randomly divided into three groups, each group had 5 fresh-keeping boxes, and each box had 9 T. matsutake fruiting bodies. The three groups of samples were stored at 4 oC and 90% relative humidity for 0, 3 and 6 day, respectively. For transcriptome and metabolome analyses, samples were frozen and ground to power in liquid nitrogen, and 9 fruiting bodies in each box were merged together as one biological repeat. Three biological replicates of each storage periods were prepared for transcriptome analysis.
