资源简介:
a. Data content (data file/table name, including observation index content)
The 2015 China Marsh Wetland Spatial Distribution Dataset reflects the specific area and spatial distribution of marsh wetlands in various regions of the country in 2015.
b. Construction purpose
Vegetated wetlands are special areas in the transition between water and land, namely shallow water areas and areas with excessively wet soil. They develop soil with obvious processes of gleification or peatification, and have biological populations that adapt to their environment. Swamp wetlands are the most important wetland type, accounting for approximately 83.5% of the total natural wetland area worldwide. They play an important role in maintaining biodiversity, mitigating global warming, and conserving water sources. Since the 1950s, under the dual pressures of climate change and human activities, the area of swamp wetlands in China has significantly decreased, and the spatial distribution range has significantly shrunk.
The 2015 United Nations Sustainable Development Summit adopted the "2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development", which is a blueprint for future development jointly drawn by all countries around the world. This agenda covers 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), 169 specific goals, and 230 indicators. SDG 6.6 refers to the protection and restoration of water related ecosystems, including mountains, forests, wetlands, rivers, underground aquifers, and lakes, by 2020. Wetlands referred to here refer to swampy wetlands. SDG15.1 also emphasizes the obligation to protect, restore, and sustainably utilize freshwater ecosystems and their services on land and inland, particularly forests, wetlands, foothills, and drylands, in accordance with international agreements by 2020. Monitoring the spatial distribution of swamp wetlands in China is an important basis for evaluating the progress of national implementation of sustainable development goals, and can also provide key data support for specific compliance actions of the International Convention on Wetlands and the Convention on Biological Diversity.
