Measurement guides and standards are an essential source of information in most areas of testing. However the terminology used to describe technical requirements in terms of measurement results is often inadequate in situations where conformity decisions must be made that are consistent with the Guide to the expression of uncertainty in measurement, or with the requirements of standards used to support accreditation such as ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 15189.

This example illustrates the issue in terms of two highly regarded guidance documents from the healthcare sector.
