Five Resources

This map is based on tribal citizen interviews conducted under the Traditional Ecological Knowledge of Keystone Marine Species and Ecosystems project. This project was led by the Tolowa Dee-ni' Nation, in partnership with the Cher-Ae Heights Indian Community of the Trinidad Rancheria, Wiyot Tribe, and InterTribal Sinkyone Wilderness Council. For the interviews, a digital data survey tool was developed by Ecotrust that included a total of fifty-seven (57) questions. This map represents the responses to one (1) of those questions. This is an aggregated map of all respondents that used a particular area to harvest one (1) or more of the five (5) cultural-ecological keystone species. These species include abalone, clams, mussels, seaweed, and smelt.
