Gene database of Streptococcus mutans NCTC 10449

<i>Streptococcus mutans</i> is a facultative anaerobic, Gram-positive cocci that inhabit the oral cavity. Known to cause oral disease, the bacterium has received much attention in clinical and basic research. This work sought to provide basic information of the genetic repertoire of <i>S. mutans</i> NCTC 10449 by parsing its annotated genome sequence downloaded from Genbank. Comprising gene name, gene function, and gene sequence of all genes in the genome of <i>S. mutans</i>, the resource should find use in studies seeking to understand pathogenesis mechanisms of this human oral inhabitant.
