Transcriptome analysis of differential flower opening and closing times

Flower opening and closing of different species occur at different specific times of a day, forming a floral clock. Flower opening and closing times are traits closely related to pollination, which play a vital role in pollination success and reproductive isolation among species. The aim of this study was to identify the upstream clock-related key genes which regulate differential flower opening and closing times among individuals, and clarify the regulatory pathways of flower opening and closing. For this purpose, two individuals with significantly different flower opening and closing times were selected from the F2 hybrids of I. dichotoma and I. domestica using for transcriptome sequencing.
