Dataset : A study of A novel mechanism of color production in the skin of Podarcis wall lizards Brejcha et al.

This dataset contains the supplementary data associated with the manuscript “A novel mechanism of color production in the skin of Podarcis wall lizards” (Brejcha et al.). The deposited files include raw and processed data underlying the figures presented in the manuscript and its Supplementary Information.

Specifically, the dataset comprises:
- raw transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images of investigated tissues, including iridophores and xanthophores from different body regions and species;
- TEM images used for quantitative measurements of color-producing elements (CPE), specifically guanine platelets and carotenoid vesicles, together with measured dimensions and gap distances used for optical modeling;
- calibrated Raman microscopy data and associated spectral files;
- absorption (UV–Vis) spectra and chromatographic data;
- modeled spectra and R scripts used for comparison and evaluation of model fits (the modeling itself was performed outside R);
- original image files underlying Figures 1–9 of the manuscript, provided as separate archives.

All data are provided to ensure transparency, reproducibility, and reuse, and allow readers to inspect raw images and perform additional measurements or analyses if desired. Data are organized according to the Figures in which they are used, following the recommendations provided in the Cell Press guidelines for Mendeley Data.
