Atomic vacancies rich MoS2 nanoflowers stimulate mitochondrial function by reducing cellualr ROS generation and upregulating the expression of genes required for mitochondrial biogenesis. Overall design: Evaluating the effect of atomic vacancies in MoS2 nanoparticles on hMSC fate. Untreated control hMSCs are compared to hMSCs treated with MoS2 nanoparticles containing low (1:1) or high (1:6) vacancies.
