VPRS 1187 Outward Letter Books

This series contains copies of the outwards letters sent from the Office of the Chief Secretary.All correspondence includes the name and location of the recipient, the outward registered number, the inward registered number of the piece of correspondence to which this was a response, the date of the correspondence, any reference number used by the correspondent, a transcription or later a carbon copy of the letter or memo and notes of any enclosures. The inclusion of the inwards correspondence reference number allows the inwards correspondence to be consulted in VPRS 1189 Inward Registered Correspondence.After 1869 for a considerable period of time, letters to the Agent-General for Victoria were transcribed in volumes separate from the usual sequence. This correspondence may be found in Units17, 22, 33, 40, 46, 59 and 66.
