Illumina sequencing of Plasmodium falciparum 3D7 is being used to improve the assembly and sequence of the published draft in 2002. The Illumina sequence of 3D7 will also be used to develop and test new software analysis and assembly programmes that can then be applied to other Plasmodium isolates.
