PCMR, A Comprehensive PreCancerous Molecular Repository and Online Analysis Platform

Cancer remains a leading cause of death despite advancements in screening and treatment. Early detection and intervention of precancerous lesions plays a pivotal role in reducing cancer morbidity and mortality. A thorough analysis of genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic and epigenomic alterations can reveal early stages of carcinogenesis. However, the absence of an integrated, well-curated repository of molecular data limits our understanding of precancerous processes. Here, we introduce PreCancerous Molecular Repository and Online Analysis Platform (PCMR), which integrates 25,792 molecular profiles from precancerous samples paired with normal or malignant counterparts. These profiles cover precancerous lesions of 34 cancer types across 19 organs and tissues from tissue samples, liquid biopsies, cell lines or organoids, with data from transcriptomics, proteomics and epigenomics. PCMR also includes 59,754 precancer-gene associations derived from differential analysis and text-mining using ChatGPT large language model. Based on user-friendly, interactive tools within PCMR, we examined the reliability and significance by molecular signature retrieval, analysis and visualization. Collectively, PCMR will serve as an essential resource for in-depth precancerous researches, improving patient outcomes.
