Experimental results and script for statistical analyses related to the paper entitled "Application of biomolecular techniques on tsetse fly puparia for species identification". The study investigated whether a reliable molecular identification of tsetse species can be made from DNA of puparia. We thus evaluated and compared the performance of five DNA extraction methods, selected as the most widely used in insect genetic studies, namely Chelex® 100 Resin, CTAB, Livak’s protocol, DEB + proteinase K and QIAamp® DNA Mini kit on lab-reared as well as field-collected puparia of varying ages. These data have been obtained at the CIRDES molecular laboratory between January 2019 and June 2020.
