Replication Package for "The Power of Title: Unintended Consequences of a Place-Based Innovation Policy in China"

This replication package accompanies the paper titled “The Power of Title: Unintended Consequences of a Place-Based Innovation Policy in China.”

To fulfill reproducibility standards, the package includes:

A fully processed firm-year panel dataset (Replication_Dataset.dta) used to generate all empirical results in the paper;

A cleaned supporting dataset (Figure1.dta) used to construct Figure 1 on the geographic distribution of policy coverage;

Stata scripts for data processing (Data_Management.do) and for generating all figures and tables in the main text (Replication_do.do);

A user-written Stata program (regcurve.do) used to generate Figure 3;

A TablesFigs/ subfolder that stores all output files;

A comprehensive README file (Readme.pdf) with instructions on running the code.

Due to data licensing restrictions, the original raw data (e.g., firm-level administrative records and official policy documents) cannot be shared. However, the included final dataset is sufficient to reproduce all results presented in the paper.
