Human Biomonitoring Data from Latvia – HBM4LV Study (2025)

The study “Establishment of the Latvian Human Biomonitoring Programme – HBM4LV” is the first systematic study in the field of human biomonitoring in Latvia. Within a unified methodological framework, it generated representative data on the population’s exposure to several priority groups of chemical substances, including pesticides, metals, persistent organic pollutants, and other substances. At the initial stage, potential substances to be included in the human biomonitoring programme were identified and assessed according to a defined methodology. As a result, the Latvian Human Biomonitoring Council approved a list of 30 high-priority chemical substances, which were included in the HBM4LV programme and analysed within the framework of a pilot study.
