Pectobacterium atrosepticum transcriptome profiling under in planta conditions

Pectobacteria are one of the most dangerous phytopathogens in the world that cause plant soft rots. Expression of symptoms, namely, soft rots caused by these bacteria is preceded by latent infection, when the pathogen predominantly inhabits xylem vessels. In this study, we performed transcriptome profiling of Pectobacterium atrosepticum at two stages (latent and acute) of colonization of tobacco plants as well as under in vitro conditions (control). Three types of samples (zone 1 - symptomeless zone of infected plant; zone 2 - macerated zone of infected plant; in vitro – bacterial culture used for plant inoculation) were sequenced in two biological replicates.
