Why Mothers are Less Enthusiastic About Breastfeeding than the Experts in China: Evidence from the Social Media Platform Zhihu

The keyword search terms included “breast milk”, “breastfeeding”, “alternatives to breastfeeding”, “milk powder feeding”, and “aqueous milk”. A total of 152 questions about three related subjects as well as 10,635 answers to them were crawled. The period for the data is 1 January 2018 to 1 March 2022 and mainly focused on the period from 2019 through 2021. A total of 4,447 answers were left after removing the duplicates and manually deleting meaningless questions and answers. An average answer consists of 1,286 characters, so the total character count is 5,718,842 covering all answer texts.
