Anthocyanins are usually not present in fruits of domesticated tomatoes. “Jinling Moyu” (MY) is a novel purple cherry tomato which accumulates considerable anthocyanins in ripe fruit. RNA sequencing based transcriptome analysis demonstrated that the gene expression levels of flavonoid and anthocyanins biosynthetic pathway had changed dramatically, and the putative regulation factors were distinct from that in the known purple tomato genotypes.
